Heathside Staff Profiles

Jeremy Giles | MRCVS - Principal Veterinary Surgeon

Ever since I was a boy I wanted to become a veterinary surgeon. Maybe it was to do with the series on television about James Herriot living and breathing the country life. Inspired by rolling hills of the Devonshire countryside where I grew up I knew it was the path I was going to take.

At eleven years of age every Saturday I went out with a farm vet on calls to see what was involved; I had decided veterinary work was for me.  I still pop in to say hello from time to time,  though all the vets I knew from that time have now retired!

I have two boys and spend a lot of time doing outdoor activities with them, visiting museums, castles, anything that gives us quality family time because of the long hours I work as a vet.

My main hobby is diving and I continue to gain qualifications in that area.

We have cats and a pony at home. Maybe you have seen our old girl Sophie on our Facebook page?
